Big Brake Upgrade for Your Silverado or Sierra NBS Truck Using 2019 Caliper & Rotors
Did you know that the four piston caliper front brake setup on the new GM trucks can be retrofitted to the 99-06 Silverados and Sierras? It is a very inexpensive upgrade and we will show you how it can be done. First things first, it will only work on the 1500 series (half tons) from 1999-2006, including the 2007 classic bodies. Also you will need to be running a 17 inch or larger wheel to be able to clear the larger rotor and caliper. The new parts will be coming from a 2019 and up new body style 1500 Chevrolet or GMC. Here is the setup that was used.

Chrome socket, swivel and extension on an impact! I love it! I like to live dangerously too. 😂
Shaft bolt for stabilizer doesn't have to be removed on my 01 silverado z71.
I have a set of stock 18" rims off of a 2018 Silverado. Will they work with this setup without needing spacers? Thanks
Did a job like this on a 1998 Chrysler Grand Voyager minivan. When replacing the exhaust system bolts. A friend I know who is a mechanic used anti-seize on bolts. The anti-seize allows easy removal in the event of future repairs.
11 years ago. You guys are UA-cam pioneers .
Did you keep the stock brake hoses?
Whats the part number for right side inner shaft seal?
I think im going escalade v front brakes
Saludos 👍😃
The clip it's now broken and floating around in ring and pinion you need to learn what your doing
How much money to repair this 02 sensor
Anyone know whats the minimum wheel size to run this?
Would this fit a 1998 GMC Sierra 2500 2 wheel drive?
But will this work on a 99 Escalade? I keep seeing people do the swap with newer body style trucks...but what about us 1st gen Lades?
And they be charging me 300+ to replace parts so simple I'm done going to mechanics
Will this work with 2024 yukon Denali different part number but it looks identical
please put MUTE music before starting video. Terrible background music. great video otherwise, thank you for posting!
do you have the torque specs for the bolts above the two differential nuts? (so the shaft comes out easier). I have 1999 chevy Silverado 1500
I am having trouble getting the snap ring tapped down on to the axle (1 minute into video) It seems to be snagging. any suggestions? Thanks
Did you ever get it figured out? I’m struggling with the exact same thing. Broke one retainer ring trying to get gear over shaft. Took a retainer ring, gear, and shaft from a donor rear to make a second attempt and I’m still having the same trouble. I saw someone say somewhere that the retainer ring can get worn and won’t allow the gear and shaft to slide together, but I’ve only seen one person say that. I’m stumped, and I’ve been building cars since I was a kid, 47 now
Get rid of the MUSIC!
Music actually has me rocking my head 😂😂😂😂 and I'm a hip hop lover 😂😂😂😂😂 that guitar and his wailing voice is tight
Yes did just watch it agai. N
Would all these parts work for my 2006 trailblazer Ss?
Best thing would know would be what were the symptoms
Would you say that measurement of that spacer would be within a couple thou on nbs? Also I read a comment about having to upgrade your master cylinder?
I think a lot of people having issues with the "pounding out" method are doing this on a newer vehicle during 2004 model year or one with a 9.25 inch axle. They changed the design around this time. You can look up OEM axle shaft and see the axle shaft where the retention ring is held is different right around 2004 or so and they list a 1st design and a 2nd design. The newer vehicles have a snap style ring that sits at the axle shaft and axle housing that you aren't supposed to pound out (Like in this video: ua-cam.com/video/eEoe-VUzjJ4/v-deo.html ). If you do you will damage the ring and the washer as you trying to hammer that ring past the washer, that holds it together. The older model trucks, like shown here, have a c style clip inside the gear, that you cannot access with a tool when it is assembled, that is designed to be pounded out. Sometimes, that clip comes out with the axle.
Wowza, you made that look way too easy! I need to replace one on my '99 GMC K2500 Suburban but Can't find a good video on a 3/4 ton. Thanks for sharing.
Mine did not have the dust shield (GM part #15588337) and I don't see it on your assembly in the video? Are these sometimes deleted or do you think it was previously removed?
Is the gear you're removing at 2:44 the same gear that should have remained in the differential?
The one part I wanted to see you didn’t show, if you leave the cam and crank timing chain and gears intact it’s technically not a tear down it a partial tear down
Mine been replaced 3 times and still comes back on
Wow this was so easy. Thanks for the video very informative
hey do you think this will work on a 2008 Trailblazer SS
Cool Music Only 😎
Como puedo conbertir un motor. 4.3omc aun motor normal para chebrolet 94
Why did we not torque them?
I have a 2002 Tahoe and plan on doing the Front does anyone know if the newer rear caliper will work?
Hopefully your wheels clear those big ass calipers
Does anyone know if you can do this to the rear breaks as well?
I've a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 not taking fuel. The pump clicks off every few seconds. I've heard the charcoal canister is the culprit. Is this correct, and would replacement be the same ? You guys made this look easy.
What does a test like this cost?
Seems like itll be the same procedure on my truck, i assume its the same process for left and right? Both of mine are leaking.
Right side you need to remove the actuator housing
What is the spec on the washer/spacer shim
Where was the leak???
Great video where do I get the red and black vaccum hoses from?
Thanks man!
Hello this a great tutorial video, I have one question; Will a spacer with a thickness of 0.162" work? I ordered the spacers but the machined shop could not make it 0.15". Thank you in advance.
Thanks for posting this video , it helped out alot with my project .
Glad it helped
Thx for info. Might have to do this for my Ford. Got a P0305 code
Glad to help
